Hello all and thanks for taking an interest in me and my work!

My name is Karl Gerzan and I’ve been a professional artist for nearly 2 decades now. Wow, has it really been that long?

My career in the arts started in 1996 when I sold my first painting at 20 years of age. After I put in my time as an art student at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, Colorado, I took some liberties. I moved to Paris, France for a while then to San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. All the while I continued on my trajectory as a gallery artist until 2008.

We all remember 2008 right? The world economic crisis? Food, shelter, medicine were priorities. Luxury items such as art though, not so much. Oh, and in 2008 I was about to become a Father for the first time while I was living in Mexico of all places.

With established galleries and artists going out of business rapidly, I knew I had to come up with a new business model and fast. People were not casually buying paintings as they once did. Every purchase was a serious purchase.

If I was going to survive as a professional artist I had to offer more than just, “a pretty picture”. It was then that I founded my company, Karl Gerzan Designs. My goal was to acquire clients that desired and could afford contextual fine art for their homes and businesses. The focus of my plan was not to sell paintings anymore, rather to sell ideas and experiences. The byproduct of course being an original custom oil painting I had to get to know my clients personally and understand their environmental needs. From there I would work in conjunction with them to come up with a stunning composition that completes and beautifies their space.

Here we are then, 8 years later. My business plan obviously worked. You can find my commissioned works of art all over the world in many public and private buildings.

I would like to thank everyone of my former clients for hiring me. I am fully aware that hiring an artist for commission work can be daunting and intimidating. I am fortunate and grateful for your confidences.

If you are considering commission me for your fine art needs, please take a good look around this website. If you like what you see, (or don’t), drop me a line and we can take it from there.

Sincerely,

Karl M. Gerzan
